Kitchen shelf...

Not your everyday blog post, but at the time I was so pleased to have solved a storage dilema so frugally!

We painted the kitchen end of last year and I have the smallest kitchen known to any large family, you cannot open the oven door with more than 2 of you in the kitchen and almost everything is squeezed into somewhere it shouldnt be.

So I had this space empty...

In a kitchen our size that amounts to a good % of available space!

I looked high & low, on the tinternet, in shops, catalogues and charity shops with no luck for the perfect shelf to fill the space.  I found a very pretty but a bit to small shelf in Windsor.  A fair compromise but at almost £50 waaay above what I wanted to spend.

Stig of the Dump that I am, on one of our forages to my favourite dump (yes I am sad enough to have a favourite tip) I spotted this.  Sitting wet & very grubby (what do you expect though its at the dump) waiting to to go into landfill this little one...

After a clean up it looks pretty good eh?
Now I know you know I wont have paid a lot for this lump of perfection in shelving but did you expect it to come in at £3?  Nope nor did I but it did!

So after a couple of coats of kitchen paint...

It found a new home.

It is slightly more packed out with bits these days, but it is perfect.
The graduation of the shelfs mean that it doesn't block out the light from the window it's next to.

A little bit of patience, a lot of elbow grease and a fair dose of luck = 1 happy mama!

I am sorry about having to ask you to prove you're not a robot but for some reason I am having a LOT of spam nowadays {and we're not talking fritters!}
