Be still my wanna be making chutney heart!
This week found a lovely haul of Vintage Kilner Jars; 17 in total to be precise, along with 30 glass seals and a rake of metal sealing discs & spare sealing bands.
To be even more precise there are Dual Purpose, Original, Improved, Ravenhead and 1960's jars! It's like learning a whole new language.

How much did such a bountiful haul cost I hear you say?
A mere £5 (sorry I cant help but feel so incredibly chuffed with it)
Next a handy rattan basket - 50p
A very pretty white bed throw - £1
Original blue & white stripe egg cup - 50p
Handy crochet tidy - 50p
Christmas stocking fillers x 3 = £1.50
Friends & Family Gather Here sign - £2.50

An expensive week coming in at £11.50 but boy oh boy it was worth it!
I've found a lovely man who can supply new screw rings for the jars and who was happy to re-home my rather tatty looking ones. The preserve pan is on order, tomataoes have been gifted, bargain plums in the bag and I am the optimist that we will be pickling this week!
I LOVE the thought that these jars have been used by another person, I like to think that their experience is somehow loaded into the jars and that my attempts will be as appreciated as theirs were. A couple of the jars date back to the 1940's, think of how many chutneys have been ladled into them before they came to us!
This week will see Loopy & I papier mache (ing). We had a quick scout around for conkers last week and are convinced that this is the week for them. So we will need a few bowls to keep them in, we have plans afoot for conkers this year and are in need of MANY conkers!
We haven't changed our to our Autumn table yet, but the weather is decidedly that way. Down will come the brightly coloured tissue paper flowers - put safely aside for next year.
