This week I have been mostly...

Crocheting!
(Well I should say 'learning' to crochet).

A lovely bloggy friend answered my 'ISO' for a copy of the above and it arrived.
So far so good, I may just realise my dreams of creating a couple of lovely blankets for the winter.  Working with some cheap n cheerful yarns for now; not sure I can afford to be a fibre snob - but I certainly do like to fondle them in the shops.   Lolly didn't fully understood my 'ooohhhhs & aaahhhhs' but bless her she nodded her head and smiled.  Albeit whilst keeping an eye on the exit.  Im quite lucky in that we have 2shops in town which sell the basics and a shop in Marlow & a shop in Great Missenden (home of Roald Dahl museum) which sell the 'posh' stuff.

We made it over to Windsor and yes I got the fabric for the bunting (which I'll show n tell once the children go back to school and I get around to making it).  The trip to Windsor was however cut short; in the palava of arriving & unpacking the car of bodies, Fonzy was wet so we changed his bot then scampered keenly off into town...forgetting the all important parking ticket.
Just as I was wandering down the High Street on my way to Cocoa Bean I realised that the ticket was missing and had to shoot straight back to the car - which was naturally parked a 15min walk away.  Thankfully we didnt get a fine; I'd never live it down if we had, it would have been the most expensive strip of bunting ever heard of.  By the time we all got back to the car it seemed silly to walk back into to town just so I could window shop so we headed home.

The three youngest seem to have grown so much over the holidays, they have an amazing keen sense of humour.  No-one believes me but Fonzy has a sense of humour, he does lots of little things that he knows will make us laugh and seems to get the humour in the room.
Harveys confidence has blossomed, before he would watch others have a kick about with a footy and now he will happily ask if he can join in.
Lilly has never had a problem with joining in but is now more able to understand who to join in with; teenagers may tolerate her for a while but her peer group will enjoy her imagination and genuinely be sad to see her go.
Fonzy has just exploded!  He is a chatterbox, typically physical boy who also loves to draw.  He's producing things and telling us what they are, and when we go back to them a day or so later he is still able to recognise them.
Potty 'training' (I hate that term; I cant train him! Either he's ready & Im listening OR Im not listening & he's not ready - there is no such thing as potty training) is happening.  Im not putting in much effort and he's still hitting the target when his nappy is off.  I tried him with pants but he didnt seem to get the concept so his tiny pants are put to the back of the draw for a time.

I feel a bit odd about writing about the older ones; you might think that from the lack of posts that mention them that they mind - they dont but I still dont feel comfy.  I think its a privacy thing, I dont want to invade theirs, I would be quite upset if all my warts where to be posted on their spaces, they might not realise that to me its a wart not a funny family thing to share but the hurt would be done.  Does that make sense?  I need to address this as I would like in years to come to put the blog into print and have as a family record of our life and it would be sad for them to miss bits.  Perhaps a seperate, private blog is the way to go?  How do you handle blogging about older children?

  1. I know what you mean about blogging about your older children, I think that as the younger ones change so much it is easier to blog about them as you know they will not be recognised in years to come or that their little ways are endearing and probably not part of what they will when they grow. hhmm it is hard one, can you just knickname them, that way you can chat away but no one will know which one you are talking about apart from you?

Thanks for popping by...I love to hear from you and really appreciate you taking the time.
I am sorry about having to ask you to prove you're not a robot but for some reason I am having a LOT of spam nowadays {and we're not talking fritters!}
