Whilst the calender tells me it is still Summer, the nip in the night air, the leaves that are already falling and the light tell me Autumn is just around the corner...change is afoot.
That brings me mixed feelings...whilst I LOVE with more than is probably normal the Autumnal changes it fills me with a sense of dread of the darkness that is soon to follow.
I struggle with the reduced light, mornings become so hard. Getting up to take hubby to work in the pitch black almost makes my bones ache, waking sleeping babes in darkness seems unkind and the dreary chilled rain that falls....its all just so urgh
But there are things to look forward to first...a new year at school for the kiddos, reconnecting with school friends, conker picking {surely if I could bottle that feeling of when we go conkering I would have an instant 'tonic' the whole year through}, all the windfall apples left in bags on gates for you to take {generosity}, crunching through fallen leaves, all the glorious colours that surround us here in the Chilterns, cosy nights with candles lit, an excuse to wrap up in a snuggly blanket, an excuse to start crocheting another snuggly blanket {perhaps not so big as our super duper mahoosive sofa blanket this time though!}....
A chance to combine my two favourite words together Autumnal Equinox...dont they just roll off your tongue?!
Harvest and Hallowean, Bonfire Night...3 excuses for family and friends to come together and share food, company and laughter...
yes, yes, yes lots to look forward
{keep thinking good things}
