Why do I always think it's a good idea to move the kiddos rooms around during the holidays??
Perhaps it's because they're all here and using the rooms that I can see just how badly change is needed, how the rooms and space aren't working?
When they're out at school all day, coming home to play, eat and sleep the rooms are adequate enough, we could always do with more space, 8 into 3 bedrooms was always going to be a squeeze!
But once we're all home then the clogs of the home don't run quite so smoothly and so much more effort is needed to keep us ticking along...
So as Abba is out and about the most, staying with friends often {she is the one who feels the 'crampedness' of it all the most} the girls are often down to 2 in their room.
Whilst the boys are here, for the most, every night {H does get out and about at weekends but home most weekday nights!}
Seemed only fair then to swap their rooms over.
But it's never as easy as that is it....
Both rooms are in need of a fresh coat of paint, wardrobes, bunk beds and furniture all need moving too ...and lets not talk about the blinds that will need making, or toys that need thinning today!
First to find a temporary home is Abba's old wardrobe that was gifted to us from a mama on a forum Im on, housing mostly her old art bits it is now living in what was once our living room {I say once was a living room as it is housing so much from everywhere at the moment that it feels like a storage unit at the minute}
Almost killed me to shift it downstairs by myself and then I had the joy of putting all the odds and bods back into it.
Im hoping that space can be found in Grads garage for it...otherwise I've no idea where it will end up?!
The bunk beds as I type are in pieces upstairs, the back bedroom is half painted, I can only do half a time as I need to shift 'stuff' from one side to the other. The other half of that room is waiting for tomorrow.
The bunk beds will stay in pieces till Bob gets home, then we'll have the joy of trying to swap them over,
something for him to look forward to after a hard day at work {sorry Bob}
Oh and it's raining...again

no photos of work in progress as Im embarrassed by the state of it all,
but you gotta crack a few eggs to bake a cake, n all that!
Hard work isn't it?
ReplyDeleteWe'e currently thinking sbout moving the 2 oldest girls in together. They're almost 21 and 20 and really don't want to share but it seems fairer to ask them to share than to continue having our 16 year old in with his 2 young brothers (7 and 6). And not forgetting we still have a 3 year old girlie in our room..... And besides like your girl, our 19 year old is only home maybe 2 nights per week, and often even less so it's a waste of a room to leave it empty for 5or more nights whilst the boys struggle to get on together.
Hope your hard work is soon sorted - we're waiting until september as we need a break after spending the last 3 months workin on the downstairs and outside!
