I have retrieved my toys after throwing them out the pram!
Gah...talk about a sense of humour failure, seriously on the grand scale of things such a petty thing to get a strop on over.
Normal service is now resumed, I'm able to sigh reasonably good naturedly over the cost to get the car up and running again. The alternative to go car free is not appealing in this cold snap, maybe if it had been March/April, but then again maybe not!
My dream mode of transport would be one of these...
as we live in the Chilterns it would need a battery to help me get up the monumental hills that we live at the top of...
It has a whole heap of options to go to the basic frame from baby seats to rain covers - it really seems to be the perfectly 'eco' family mode of transport. Think of the fitness benefits too *sigh*
It would pay for itself within the first year by savings on fuel, road tax, insurance, mot and running costs...sadly though there's no way I could afford the initial cost to buy it - and I cant make the savings whilst still running a car! Is that ironic or sods law?
Take a peek over at them, I never knew there were so many cargo bikes on the market, I've seen a few whilst on our travels but the Triobike seems to be the lightest and I have to admit being tempted by the sheer range of colours and uniqueness of it
All that said I've never actually seen one in real life...I'm sorely tempted to try to arrange a test drive in the summer.
If you have a Triobike I would seriously be interested in hearing what you think of it...
living at the bottom of the Chilterns i feel your pain and would struggle getting out of the village on a bike i feel..... i am so un-fit! They do look rather fabby don't they!!
ReplyDeleteI'd breeze down to the town but think it would take me a fair amount of huffing & puffing to make it home again...even with the help of a battery!!

I would love a bike like that. I hate driving so don't do it, which leaves me with public transport and that's such a pita. Like you though I just can't afford the initial expense. :0(
ReplyDeletehaving tried to cycle up a small hill pulling my two in a trailer I can tell you that this sort of thing might be great in Holland but is impossible in the UK for anything other than leisure. There's nothing quite so humbling as cycling for all your worth only to be crawling along at the speed of an asthmatic snail :~)
ReplyDelete(there are also safety issues with using one of these on the road - you end up sticking the kids out into traffic at junctions etc)
I'd not thought of the sticking out at junctions...and I wouldn't even dream of getting on it without the aid of the largest battery they could stick on it! :)
