Fonzy has a new found love of London Routemaster buses...sadly they are no longer in service here in the UK but there is a private hire one in the area as we see it on a regular basis, as you can imagine causes GREAT excitement to this little 3yr old boy.
So we thought a trip to the London Transport Museum might be worth a look...
and it really was!
Just myself, Lolly, RV, Loopy and Fonzy went on this trip, poppa was working and the older ones had 'stuff' going on that day.
We took the train to London, then a bus and a short walk to the museum which is in Convent Garden.
I like the museum a lot...entry for children was free and adults could convert their ticket into a annual pass for no extra charge! The cafe was a tad overpriced but ok and the gift shop was well stocked with lots of interesting bits...postcards of old tube art and reproductions of old posters etc.
We left the pusher in the car at the train station, I wasn't sure how much walking we'd be doing or how many times we'd need to get up and down a set of underground stairs so it seemed like the thing to do...that all being said and done Fonzy is only 3yrs old so I knew that he would wane eventually!
We walked and walked around the museum...the children covered more miles by constantly running back and forth.
It also highlighted just how bad/severe Loopy's vertigo is...she has always been frightened of stairs where she could see between the treads or over/through the banister but at the museum and at the station on the way home was reduced to crawling over the walkways were you could see through the sides. Nothing to be done I don't think, Lolly was also a bit scared of heights and has come to conquer that in her own time so I think all we can do is offer support/encouragement when needed.
Turns out Fonzy does not like the mannequins at all..no no no
And what we came to see!
Despite Loppy being frightened of the heights and gaps between the rail exhibits and Fonzy being frightened of the noise of the rail exhibits and the mannequins we DID enjoy our trip and will hopefully go back again

After we had taken our fill of the museum and it's cafe we decided to have a bit of a wander around...I love London. I think if I could afford to do it in comfort I would like to live in the suburbs but for the foreseeable future I shall just enjoy our wanderings!
China town and Soho are close to Convent Garden so we meandered our way through the little back streets to head back to Regent Street and eventually homewards.
As predicted Fonzy's little feet grew weary and he needed a nap. Since I sold my last sling a while back napping on the move the go has been a bit hit or miss but on this day I was thankfully wearing a scarf which was quickly and easily transformed into a sling! This left us still free to wander the roads for that bit longer until our toes also grew weary and we needed to head home.
He slept soundly and snuggly for just over an hour
and didn't wake up till we boarded the bus to the tube station
Tired toes heading home
wow it looks fab - I know a small boy who would think it amazing. I'm not sure if I have the strength though :~? I may defer to a daddy & son outing.
