I love Country Living magazine! What can I say, I have champagne tastes and enough for lemonade in my wallet. I dont think even with money I could spend some of the figures mentioned for some bits but non the less I still love the magazine.
This month had an article of Dairy more specific make your own. So we tried it out and guess what?....its brilliant! Now my husband & sister both claim to have made butter at school but I dont remember it? I cant convey the suprise I had after shaking cream for about 15mins that I managed to produce BUTTER. It was so satisfying that I had to give it another go almost straight away and spurred on by the success of that I also made a batch of clotted cream. :)
The results of my playfullness were quite simply delicious! Using the buttermilk scone recipe from the magazine and the butter, buttermily and cream I had made I made these. The scones alone were really quite dull (still tastey but obviously crying out for a dollop of cream). The jam was sadly not home made but that I think will be my next playtime. I almost joined the local WI just so I could learn how to make jam & crochet a few years back.....I may still just do that.
Lots of baking and cooking has been taking place (but no photos for hard evidence), I have been incredibly good in that department over the past couple of weeks. I'll make a bit of an effort to photo it before the savages strike, but you have to understand that after a long day of play these savages are pretty hungry and have little patience for mama to take her photos.
Thanks again for popping by and thank you for the recent comments
