Lolly's portrait of the younger ones
Our rope old shed with its nice new, clean coat of blackboard paint
RV actually took time away from his football - although the ball was never far away!
Loopy had a bash at it too, although Im pretty sure it would be one of the bigger ones to think that chalking was for losers
from here
Has proven to be a HUGE hit! I painted the shed first thinking that would do, but you cant really do any larger pieces on it with the grooves. A blackboard shed though is good for stories and sums (Im reliably told)
I nipped out to the local B&Q and picked up a sheet of exterior board, which my eldest son painted and hung on the fence for the little ones. They have been down to the drawing board every morning so far before school to doodle, no arguing over the chalks but squabbling over the water sprays - especially when one would like a water fight and the other just wants to doodle!
That aside they're wonderful fun, Ive popped down in the evening to do a couple of boards for them to wake up to, Im sure the neighbours think I've completely cracked but with so much foosball on the TV and my sewing machine still in exile a gals gotta find something to occupy her time!
I had to chuckle at the assistant in the DIY store though, when he suggested that a 'whiteboard' inside would be fun. Fun for the smaller ones but not so much fun for me when Fonzy would inevitablly think that all white wall are for pens!
Great idea and like you say if you keep it outside there is no confusion caused and therefore no accidents on walls :-)
ReplyDeleteLove this idea to leave it outside. Have you seen how it stands up to rain? Does the chalk paint take longer to dry or to be able to be used again? The big board is also a great idea.
